Manchester City could sell Reijnders after one year — and it may change everything
A €60m offer could reshape Manchester City’s entire midfield
Tijjani Reijnders was supposed to be part of Manchester City’s next great midfield. Barely one year later, he could already be leaving.
A Saudi Arabian club has submitted a €60 million offer for the Netherlands international, according to Turkish transfer reporter Yağız Sabuncuoğlu. The club has not yet been identified, and Manchester City have not confirmed negotiations, but the report says an agreement is getting close.
This is not just another Saudi transfer rumour.
Reijnders joined City from AC Milan in June 2025 for about €55 million and signed until 2030. He arrived after being named Serie A’s best midfielder. His first year in England was solid: 47 appearances, seven goals and seven assists. City’s own season review described it as a positive first campaign.
That is what makes a possible sale so striking. Reijnders has not failed.
Manchester City are changing.
Pep Guardiola has gone after ten years. Enzo Maresca is now in charge and is building a different midfield.
Rodri is pushing towards Barcelona, who have offered around €60 million. City are also chasing Chelsea captain Enzo Fernández. Chelsea value him at roughly £120 million. Elliott Anderson has already arrived for £116 million, while City are also working on Ayyoub Bouaddi. The Guardian reports that Reijnders could be one of the midfielders sacrificed if Fernández arrives.
Suddenly, the Saudi offer makes sense.
At €60 million, City could recover roughly the fixed fee they paid Milan and create room in a crowded midfield. More importantly, selling Reijnders would show that Maresca is not simply taking over Guardiola’s squad.
He is rebuilding it.
The remarkable part is not that Saudi Arabia can offer €60 million.
It is that Manchester City may actually be ready to say yes.
